◎提出と画像保存について
提出時は表紙全体を画面キャプチャし、JPEGで書き出したもののみをメールに添付して、ご提出下さい。また、必ずデザインに対するタイトル(英日関係なく30文字以内とするが、シンプルな方がのぞましい)とデザインコンセプト(200字以内)をメールの本文に書いて下さい。採用された際のため、作成は以下の仕様で準備し、そのファイルは必ず採択・不採択の連絡がくるまで保存して下さい。

新しい現代中国研究の展開
New Dynamics of Contemporary China Studies: New Sources, Methods, and Filed Strategies

【特集概要】
1980年代に中国が対外開放と国内改革の方針を採用して以来、社会科学における中国研究は急速に多様化し、その分析は深化している。そして、これまでの40年のあいだに、現代中国研究の主要な研究課題は大きく転換した。中国はどのようにして持続的な経済成長を達成してきたのか。経済的発展に伴い社会の多様化が進んでいるにもかかわらず、一党支配体制がなぜ安定的に維持されているのか。そして、経済成長によって国力を増大させた中国は、国際政治の力学にどのような影響を及ぼし、既存の国際秩序の変動を促す主要なアクターとしていかなる役割を果たしているのか。中国の台頭がもたらす国際秩序への影響とその長期的帰結は何か。従来の中国像の再検討が求められている。 変化したのは研究課題だけではない。研究者が利用可能な史資料は拡大する一方で、一部の資料へのアクセスが制限される状況も生じている。また、新たな研究手法の開発により、研究者が求められる方法論的アプローチも変化してきた。こうした研究環境の変動を受け、現代中国研究は新たな局面を迎えている。 現在、国際秩序そのものが大きく変動しつつある。国際社会がこれまで共有してきた価値や利益に対する認識は揺らぎ、長らく維持されてきた規範やルールの安定性が損なわれつつある。その秩序変動の主要な推進力となっているのが中国である。既存の国際秩序のもとで長期にわたり平和と繁栄を享受してきた日本社会にとって、いま必要とされるのは、この秩序の変動を鋭敏に捉え、冷静かつ体系的に現状を分析する能力を養うことである。新たな国際秩序の萌芽は、既存の秩序が後退していく過程において現れる。 本特集の目的は、急速に発展し続ける現代中国研究の現状を総括し、その今後の展開方向を示すことである。これを通じて、中国政治、経済、社会に対する理解をより深化させ、国際政治におけるその位置づけを再考するための理論的・実証的知見を提供することを目指す。

Since China adopted its policy of external opening and domestic reform in the 1980s, research on China within the social sciences has expanded rapidly, diversified considerably, and deepened in analytical depth. Over the past four decades, the core research questions in contemporary China studies have undergone a profound transformation. How has China sustained long-term economic growth? Despite increasing social diversification driven by economic development, why has the one-party system remained stable? Furthermore, as China has strengthened its national power through economic expansion, how has it influenced the dynamics of international politics and contributed to shifts in the global order? What are the broader implications of China’s rise for international stability, and what long-term transformations will it generate? These developments necessitate a critical reassessment of conventional understandings of China. However, these shifts are not limited to research questions alone. While the availability of archival materials and historical sources has expanded, access to certain records has become increasingly restricted. At the same time, new research methodologies have emerged, reshaping the methodological approaches required for scholarly inquiry. The field of contemporary China studies now stands at a critical juncture amid these transformations. The international order itself is undergoing profound shifts. The shared values and interests that have long defined the global community are evolving, while the norms and rules that have underpinned international governance are becoming increasingly contested. China is among the key actors engaged in these transformations. For Japan, which has long benefited from stability and prosperity under the existing international system, it is imperative to develop the analytical literacy necessary to accurately perceive these ongoing changes and to conduct a systematic and dispassionate assessment of the emerging geopolitical landscape. The objective of this special issue is to provide a comprehensive assessment of the current state of contemporary China studies, explore its future trajectories, and deepen our understanding of China’s politics, economy, and society. Furthermore, it seeks to enhance our understanding of China’s role in global politics. Through these discussions, this issue aims to contribute to a more nuanced and theoretically informed discourse on China’s position in the international system, offering both empirical insights and theoretical frameworks for analyzing its future developments.
